Biennially, at the first meeting of the new council, the members thereof, by majority vote, shall designate one of their number as deputy mayor to serve in the absence or temporary disability of the mayor and to have all the powers of the mayor when so serving. (Ord. 671, 1983; Ord. 506 §2, 1978).
