A. The police department shall have a police chief, who shall be in general charge of the police department. The police chief shall be appointed and removed at the pleasure of the city manager.

B. The chief of police shall, subject to the approval of the city manager, promulgate such rules and regulations pertaining to the administration of the police department as he may deem necessary and proper; the police chief shall employ, subject to the approval of the city manager, such additional personnel, including auxiliary patrolmen, as shall be necessary to perform the duties referred to in Section 2.48.020.

C. The police chief shall, upon appointment, take an oath of office, and execute and deliver to the city council an official bond in the penal sum of $1,000.00 conditioned for the faithful performance of his duties. (Ord. 416 §3, 1976; Ord. 22 §3, 1967).
